Info & Prep guide
I love using natural light in my photos, it is the most flattering way to capture your beautiful family in your home. Please keep an area close to windows and French doors so that I can pose you and baby as close to the natural light as possible.
Please open blinds & curtains and turn off overhead lights & lamps.
If the natural light is not sufficient enough (I understand that some homes are naturally dark - my own home included!) I will use my flash at very low power to bounce off the ceiling to add just enough light to illuminate you all in your space.
As previously mentioned, I will work around your home to find the best natural light possible. We can take photos in your living room, bedroom, baby’s nursery (if you have one) and even your kitchen!!! An In-home Newborn shoot is all about capturing your family in the comfort of your home authentically and just as you are.
Keeping your baby awake before I arrive will help aid their sleep during the shoot and will help with getting those adorable sleepy photos.
However, please do not worry if you’re unable to do this. The session is typically for 2 hours, so we will have plenty of time to get your baby to sleep for a mix of awake and those cute sleepy shots!
Try and feed your baby shortly before your session time. This ensures that your baby has a full belly and will hopefully be happy & cooperative for photos! - If you would like any feeding or nursing pictures, we can absolutely do this at the beginning of the session, so if this is something you would like captured then please hold off feeding until I arrive.
Babies are sooo much happier in a warm environment. Having the heating on allows for your baby to be comfortable having their clothes changed and when being undressed for swaddling / wrapping.
This is totally up to you! It is easier for mums to pick their outfit first and build others outfits around that. I encourage mums to wear something comfortable and flowy so is not constricting. This shoot is all about your family and your newborn baby, so wear what reflects you.
